Originally designed to fragment kidney stones, without the need for invasive surgery - Shockwave emits pulses of energy that are delivered safely to a focused area on the body, improving metabolism and promoting the formation of new blood vessels, hastening the body’s own natural healing process of damaged tissue. 

The new blood vessels improve blood supply and oxygenation of the treated area and support faster healing of both the tendon and bone. Essentially, the Shockwave catalyses the healing of tissue that had not yet repaired naturally.

The effects of shockwave occur across several levels to accelerate healing:

  • Cell Level Change: shockwave stimulus affects the chemical environment of tissues at a cellular level.
  • Blood Flow Change: Normal blood flow is critical to the healing process, and shockwaves create a revascularization effect.
  • Muscle Tone Reduction: Shockwave treatment reduces the contractile activity of muscle and can also break patterns of neuro-cognitive pain that are associated with chronic conditions.  
  • Pain Reduction: Shockwave pulses directly affect the nerve fibres that transmit pain signals to our brain.

The shock waves are abrupt, high amplitude pulses of mechanical energy, similar to soundwaves, generated by an electromagnetic coil or a spark in water.
